Cable operators exploring innovative ways of making their networks more eco-friendly should examine a new backup power fuel cell solution from CommScope, Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, which will be on display in the new Green Pavilion at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® 2009. CommScope’s Fuel Cell Cabinet utilizes hydrogen-powered fuel cells to provide an environmentally friendly DC backup power solution for cable network head-ends and hub equipment. Unlike diesel generators or batteries, the only by-products of hydrogen fuel cells are heat and water.
