EcoCanteen spearheads emergency relief donations to non-profit Haitian hospital

(Charlotte, N.C.) EcoCanteen, Inc., an environmentally conscious distributor of re-useable stainless steel water bottles, announced today their efforts to raise funds to help one of the few remaining functioning hospitals in Haiti. Northwest Haiti Christian Mission operates and maintains the hospital and has dispatched much of their medical staff to the Haiti Capital, Port-au- Prince to assist with the overwhelming medical emergency in the wake of the recent earthquake.

One of Eco Canteen’s developers is a former Haiti missionary and worked with two Northwest Haiti Christian orphanages and their hospital. Most of hospital staff members raise their own financial support outside of the organization. So the funding they get provides the maximum benefit. And in Haiti, a little money goes a long way. Eco Canteen believes in this organization so much that its founders have supported several of their missionaries and have contributed to their medical program prior to this earthquake.

Commenting on the fundraising efforts, EcoCanteen president Doug Hall said, “When a disaster like this happens in the world, it is difficult to know how to help. Do I donate food and water? Who do I donate to? I’ve found that great results come from financially supporting groups that already have a local infrastructure and know the land.”

As a small token of appreciation, Eco Canteen is offering a gift of an adult Eco Canteen stainless steel bottle to any individual making a donation of $75 or more. A link to make donations is provided at www.StopDrinkingPlastic.org. Just make a tax deductable donation of $75 or more online. Then simply forward the donation confirmation email to Haiti@ecocanteen.org. and the individual will be sent a 27 oz Eco Canteen.
