(Morrisville, N.C.) The Research Triangle Park’s local business advocacy organization, the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce that Asia business consultant Gary L. Clinton will be presenting, “The Dollar’s Impact on the Emergence of Asia” at its July 20th Economic Development Forum.

The Forum will run from 8 – 10 a.m. at the Holiday Inn RDU Airport, 930 Airport Boulevard, Morrisville. Cost for networking, breakfast, and the informative presentation is $25 for employees of Morrisville Chamber of Commerce member firms and $40 for non-members.

“Rarely do you get an opportunity to hear directly from a respected international business leader like Gary,” said Sharon Rosche’, Morrisville Chamber of Commerce president. According to Rosche’, the topic of the forum fits with the focus of a growing number of Chamber member companies who regularly do business in India and China.

“Especially in the life sciences, we’re seeing more and more businesses in Morrisville with a global reach, especially in Asia,” she said.

Clinton’s presentation will focus on the business environment in China and India, covering economic and business development issues. Rather than presenting an economic lecture, he will be delving into personal experiences of living and working in Asia, talking about what a number of countries have done and are doing to attract U.S. businesses to expand or setup operations in Asia, and what it’s like for U.S.-based companies to do business with clients and suppliers in a global environment. Additionally, Clinton will talk about what it takes to attract foreign companies to do business in North Carolina.

As an international business consultant, Clinton focuses on companies expanding or investing in Asia. Much of his work has been with the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School where he has advised MBA teams on consulting assignments in North Carolina and China. Clinton just returned from a consulting project in China working with a number of MBA students on a pharmaceutical company founded by two Chinese-Americans formerly  from the RTP area.

A 40-year veteran of Citigroup, Clinton spent most of his banking career in client focused and credit risk management businesses. Of the 15 years he spent in Asia, six were in Korea managing relationships with the country’s largest business conglomerates. He retired as Asia Pacific Region Head for Citigroup’s Global Relationship Banking business in 2007, where he was responsible for Citigroup’s relationships with non-Asian based multinational corporations in the region. In Hong Kong, Clinton was active with the American Chamber of Commerce, serving as its Chairman in 2007.

Clinton is a member of the Governors Club Speakers Bureau which leverages the diverse talent and experiences of Governors Club residents to provide speakers on a variety of topics throughout the Triangle area.
