gtp (Kinston, N.C.) DB Schenker, a logistics service provider headquartered in New York State, has signed a 5-year renewable lease for one-half of a warehouse building at the N.C. Global TransPark (GTP) and expects to eventually fill as many as 40 full-time jobs.

Schenker Logistics, Inc. (SLI) executed the lease after signing a 5-year contract for SLI to provide advanced logistics services for Spirit AeroSystems, the anchor tenant at the TransPark and leading supplier of airplane assemblies and components.

Darlene Waddell, the GTP’s executive director, commented, “DB Schenker’s arrival at the GTP signals the continuing impact of Spirit’s opening, as well as the GTP’s potential to expand as an aerospace center.”

The new tenant will occupy space in the building known as GTP 2.

As a third-party logistics supplier for Spirit AeroSystems, DB Schenker’s work at the Global TransPark will be patterned after a similar project Schenker operates at Spirit’s Wichita, KS site. The scope of work will include product receipt and put away; pick, pack, and sequenced line feed to “point of use” locations.

Spirit AeroSystems held the grand opening for its 500,000 square foot manufacturing facility on July 1 and has begun manufacture of fuselage sections and wing spars for the Airbus A350XWB airliner.

The N.C. Global TransPark is an aerospace and logistics business park developed in Lenoir County by the state. Located near several major military installations, the GTP is designed to attract aerospace and logistics-related companies and bring increased economic opportunities to the state.

The GTP offers environmentally permitted commercial real estate and shipping capabilities to almost any size company. The GTP features a centerpiece 11,500-foot runway, available warehousing and a Foreign-Trade Zone onsite.

DB Schenker, headquartered in Freeport, NY, is one of the world’s leading integrated logistics service providers. SLI offers land transport, air and ocean freight, as well as comprehensive logistics solutions and global supply chain management from a single source.
