Carlisle Companies Reports $0.62 Earnings

Carlisle Companies Incorporated (NYSE:CSL) reported net sales from continuing operations of $709.4 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2010, an 11% increase from net sales of $636.7 million in the second quarter of 2009. The Interconnect Technologies segment’s acquisitions of Jerrik and Electronic Cable Specialists (ECS) and the Engineered Transportation Solutions segment’s acquisition of Japan Power Brake contributed $15.7 million in sales, or 2.5%, in the second quarter of 2010. Organic sales increased by 8.6% from the same quarter in the prior year, with sales growth primarily in the Construction Materials, Engineered Transportation Solutions and Interconnect Technologies segments. Gilbarco® Encore® Ethanol Blenders Gain UL Listing

(Greensboro, N.C.) Following the June 24 announcement, UL has now extended the UL Listing to include Gilbarco Encore blenders with the flexible fuel option. These additional six models are among the first to be approved to blend mid-level ethanol/gasoline products containing up to 85% ethanol. A total of 22 Gilbarco dispenser configurations (blenders and MPDs) are now approved for use with fuels up to E85. (more…)

SaveJobsNC.com Details Pending Health Care Job Losses

(Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C.) North Carolina’s leader in home medical equipment advocacy and education, NCAMES, has launched the informational clearinghouse SaveJobsNC.com to educate state and local leaders as well as Medicare beneficiaries about the effects of pending job losses due to federal health care regulations. Industry experts are projecting 600 positions will be cut in the greater Charlotte area due to new Medicare bidding rules implemented by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in Washington, D.C.  Between 1,200-1,600 job cuts are expected statewide as HME providers across North Carolina are either blocked from servicing patients who use Medicare to pay for their essential equipment, or are forced by CMS to provide services at sub-industry prices. The first round of bidding for CMS approvals in Charlotte was just completed two weeks ago, with hundreds of HME providers left out in the cold, while others winning contracts are scrambling to provide services in the face of massive revenue cuts.
