333liquidia_logo_300_1x1  (Research Triangle Park, N.C.) Liquidia Technologies, a privately held biopharmaceutical company developing particle-based vaccines and therapeutics, has been named one of 25 North Carolina Companies to Watch by CED (formerly The Council for Entrepreneurial Development). The honorees represent growth-stage entrepreneurial companies that demonstrate high performance in the marketplace, exhibit innovative products or display other unique qualities that make them “worth watching.”

“We are honored to be a part of CED’s inaugural class of North Carolina Companies to Watch,” Neal Fowler, CEO of Liquidia Technologies, said of the recent announcement. “CED and the NC community play a vital role in enabling local companies to grow and succeed. In addition to our great set of investors and advisors, CED and other local organizations have been a great resource for Liquidia as we’ve transformed from an early stage company to a development stage company advancing compelling products into preclinical and clinical studies.”

The 2010 North Carolina Companies to Watch were selected from an initial pool of 190 nominees from across North Carolina. They are privately held companies of between 6-99 employees and $1 million to $50 million in annual revenue or funds raised from grants, investors or partnerships. The winners, who represent the geographic regions of the state as well as different sectors of the economy, will be honored at an awards ceremony September 23rd at the Raleigh Marriott City Center.

Liquidia Technologies is developing precisely engineered particles for improved delivery of biological and small molecule therapeutics within the initial fields of vaccines, nucleic acid delivery and inhaled therapeutics. The ability to control particle design parameters such as size, shape and composition enables Liquidia and its partners to address critical unmet needs in the prevention and treatment of human disease. The company was founded in 2004 and is located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. www.liquidia.com
