B&W Announces Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer to Retire

CHARLOTTE, N.C.–The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE: BWC) announced today that Ms. Mary Pat Salomone, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, will retire effective June 30, 2013, following 31 years of service with the Company. Ms. Salomone will continue serving as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nuclear Production Partners, LLC (NP2), the B&W-led joint venture competing for the U.S. Department of Energy contract to manage and operate the combined Y-12 National Security Complex and Pantex Plant. B&W Awarded Boiler Pressure Parts Contract for South Dakota Coal-Fired Plant

(B&W PGG) has been awarded a contract worth more than $40 million to design, supply and install boiler pressure parts and an overfire air system, as well as perform boiler reinforcement, for the Big Stone power plant in South Dakota operated by Otter Tail Power Company. (B&W NOG) has received a $130 million contract for nuclear reactor components based on recent technological advances that will be used on the U.S. Navy’s Virginia-Class submarines. (Charlotte, N.C.) The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced today that its subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Canada Ltd. (B&W Canada) has been awarded a contract valued at more than $25 million from SaskPower to design and replace the upper frontwall and a portion of the reheater at SaskPower’s Shand Power Station near Estevan, Saskatchewan. Shand Power Station features boiler technology originally designed and supplied by B&W Canada. This retrofit project is an integral part of the coal-fired station’s life extension. (more…)

WatchIt Technologies Announces Major Breakthrough

According to a company spokes person, “The initial plan was to install and start the engine and immediately turn it off.” Initial engine performance exceeded expectations and the engineers decided to let it run for an extended period of time.
