Lenovo Acquires MEDION AG to Expand Its Business in Western Europe

Lenovo, the world’s fastest growing major PC Company, today announced that it is acquiring Germany’s MEDION AG, a leader in PC, multimedia products, mobile communications service and consumer electronics. The acquisition, when completed, will double Lenovo’s market share in Germany and make it the third-largest PC Company in Europe’s largest PC market. Together, the combined company will have more than 14% share in the German PC market and approximately 7.5% share in the Western Europe PC market. Researchers Develop Hardware Encryption For New Computer Memory Technology

(Raleigh, N.C.) Security concerns are one of the key obstacles to the adoption of new non-volatile main memory (NVMM) technology in next-generation computers, which would improve computer start times and boost memory capacity. But now researchers from North Carolina State University have developed new encryption hardware for use with NVMM to protect personal information and other data. NVMM technologies, such as phase-change memory, hold great promise to replace conventional dynamic random access memory (DRAM) in the main memory of computers. NVMM would allow computers to start instantly, and can fit more memory into the same amount of space used by existing technologies. However, NVMM poses a security risk. (more…)

Lenovo Adds North Carolina Jobs in New Deal with ACS, a Xerox Company

(Morrisville, N.C.) Lenovo (SEHK: 0992) (PINK SHEETS: LNVGY) announced that it has signed a contract with Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), a Xerox Company, as part of an initiative to expand its Global Services business. The agreement will create approximately 300 new jobs in the Triangle region of N.C.- 50 of those with Lenovo and 250 with ACS. During a news conference attended by North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue, Lenovo announced the new jobs at its campus in Morrisville, N.C. to help meet the growing needs of its customers, both locally and worldwide.
