Nicholas Institute Expands Board of Advisors

(Durham, N.C.) Mark Tercek, president and CEO of The Nature Conservancy, and Disque Deane Jr., a Duke alumnus with more than two decades of experience in water resources, have joined the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions’ Board of Advisors. Both Tercek and Disque Deane Jr. will fulfill three-year terms with the board, which now totals 19 of some of the foremost environmental leaders in United States. All are charged with counseling the Institute, an interdisciplinary research organization at Duke charged with helping decision makers solve some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Sustainable Technologies EarthWalk Alliance Scholarship New at CCCC

(Pittsboro, N.C.) EarthWalk Alliance, a nonprofit based in Hillsborough, has established a $1,000 scholarship for students interested in Central Carolina Community College’s Sustainable Technologies program with an emphasis in sustainable design and practice concepts. The scholarship was announced at the college’s Chatham County Campus, in Pittsboro, during the campus’s April 21 Earth Day celebration. EarthWalk Alliance President Tim Watson said his organization is “very interested in Earth stewardship” and decided to offer the scholarship as part of the group’s community outreach efforts. CCCC Siler City Center Glows Gold

Central Carolina Community College’s Siler City Center is built of brick, aluminum and glass, but it is now officially “Gold.” The U.S. Green Building Council has announced that the facility, completed in fall 2010, has met all the design, siting, and material requirements to be certified at the Gold Level of the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. Sensus Launches Tender Offer

(“Sensus”), a leading technology company providing energy and water utility customers worldwide with innovative conservation products and services, has announced that it has commenced a tender offer to purchase for cash any and all of $275,000,000 in aggregate principal amount outstanding of its 8-5/8% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2013 (the “Notes”). In conjunction with the tender offer, Sensus is soliciting consents to, among other things, certain proposed amendments to the indenture governing the Notes to eliminate substantially all of the restrictive covenants, certain repurchase rights and certain events of default and related provisions contained in the indenture governing the Notes (the “Indenture”).
