Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies Adds 1,000L Single-Use Bioreactor

(Morrisville, N.C. & Billingham, United Kingdom) Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies is expanding its existing contract manufacturing capabilities with the addition of a 1,000L Xcellerex® Single-Use Bioreactor to its RTP, North Carolina facility. This expansion reinforces the commitment to lead the global Biologics CMO industry through continuous innovation and implementation of new technologies, service delivery and quality, as announced by Japan-based parent company, FUJIFILM Corporation. The addition of the 1,000L single-use bioreactor, single-use mixers, and single-use harvest filtration will supplement existing seed train and purification equipment as part of a hybrid implementation approach. This project is the continuation of an on-going cell culture capacity expansion by Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies. This addition complements the 200L Xcellerex single-use bioreactor already in operation at the company’s Process Development Laboratories in Cary, NC, and the existing 2,000L stainless steel train located in the RTP, NC cGMP manufacturing plant. Xerium Technologies, Inc. Announces Closing of its Previously Announced Refinancing Transaction

(NYSE:XRM) today announced that it closed its previously announced refinancing transaction, which included a private placement of $240 million of its 8.875% senior unsecured notes due 2018 (the “Notes”) and a new approximately $278 million multi-currency senior secured credit facility (the “New Credit Facility”), comprised of approximately $248 million of senior secured term loans and a $30 million senior secured revolving credit facility. The Notes were sold only to qualified institutional buyers pursuant to Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended (the “Securities Act”) and to non-U.S. persons pursuant to Regulation S under the Securities Act. North Carolina Pays Ossid to Stay

(Rocky Mount, N.C.) Ossid, a division of Pro Mach, will receive a $200,000 business investment grant from the state of North Carolina aimed at increasing employment and keeping Ossid in the state as a valued employer. Gov. Bev Perdue announced this week that Ossid would remain in the state. The company had seriously considered moving to South Carolina, but the grant from the One NC fund plus local matching grants helped the company remain at its Rocky Mount facility. (more…)
