CommScope Inc., a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, reported sales of $721.6 million and a net loss of $22.1 million, or a loss of $0.23 per share, for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. The reported net loss includes after-tax charges of $29.9 million in restructuring costs, $15.2 million for the amortization of purchased intangibles as well as a tax charge of $2.3 million resulting from the recently passed U.S. health care legislation. Excluding these special items, adjusted first quarter 2010 earnings were $25.3 million, or $0.26 of earnings per diluted share.
